Celebrate Lisburn!
What is past is our beginning . . .
Two hundred and seventy years ago, 200 acres of land were the beginnings of Lisburn Village. The village is currently located in Cumberland County, Lower Allen Township, in South Central Pennsylvania across the Susquehanna River from the State Capital, Harrisburg. Now, in 2009, we are celebrating this anniversary with events to include our ancestors, present residents and all visitors.
In 1735 Alexander Frazier purchased 200 acres from the heirs of William Penn for 31 pounds worth $151.00 in 1976 and $46.50 in today’s US currency. The village is the oldest in Lower Allen Township and the third oldest in Cumberland County.
We, as residents of the Village of Lisburn, wish to thank Lower Allen Township for its continued support since becoming part of that township in 1850 when it was separated from Upper Allen Township. We also would like to thank the Lisburn Community Fire Company for its support and use of the Fire Company facilities during our 270th Anniversary Celebrations.
We are happy to be part of the history and future of Lisburn. Tour our site and read of Lisburn’s past, current and future as presented by those who love her and join us in her future.
